Michelle, we have been wandering for kilometers all through the area between Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Why did you choose to meet me there? What is so special about it?
I really like the atmosphere there. You can almost feel how the air is vibrating with energy and yet you can still find some peaceful spots in between.
You were born and raised in Berlin, the place the rest of the world seems to be so drawn to. Are you on the other hand attracted by the outside world, be it nature or other cities?
At some point even Berlin can loose its sparkle. So yes, I am moving on. I still do not know where I am going, but I am trying to take in as much as I can.
You have told me about long walks through London and the mountain hikes you had planned. Right after we parted, this quote from Christoph Ransmayr's novel The Terrors of Ice and Darkness came to my mind : „ Let us not forget: The line of flight is only a line, not a road. From a physiognomic viewpoint, we are pedestrians and runners.“ What does walking mean to you?
Well, I'll have to answer with another quote, though I can't remember where I got it from: „walking is just controlled falling“.
You have been scouted out of the blue and now you are modeling instead of enrolling art school and are heading to Milan and not to the Alps. How are you dealing with such a change of plans? What is exciting about such a new and unexpected turn?
If I only knew that myself...
We have been talking a lot about Lars von Trier, too. What is it, that you find so fascinating in his movies?
It's the feeling I am left with after watching each of his movies, it's as if I'd have been thrown an ice bucket right into my face.
